Prof. YangWenhui,received her PhD fromHong KongBaptistUniversity, is currently Professor in Guangdong University of Foreign Studies.
Miss Yang graduated from Sichuan University of Foreign Studies in 1989 and received her BA degree, majored in English Language and Literature Studies, then she worked in Guangzhou Institute of Foreign Trade and Economics. In 1996, she started to pursue her MA degree in Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, the merged university of Guangzhou Institute of Foreign Trade and Economics and Guangzhou Institute of Foreign Languages. After that, she went toUKto study and obtained her MA degree in 2002. In 2004, she commenced her PhD study inHong KongBaptistUniversitywith a full scholarship and got her PhD degree in 2008. From 1998, her research began to focus on international business negotiations and intercultural communication studies. Her research interests include discourse analysis, pragmatics, applied linguistics and managerial communication. She has recently published in various international and Chinese academic journals, such as Journal of Communication & Discourse, Journal of Applied Linguistics, and a full-length academic bookA Discourse Analysis of Interpersonal Business Negotiationsand so on. As for teaching, she has been taught Intercultural Business Communication, Managerial Communication for MBA students, and Communication Studies and Social Linguistics for MA students. Her teaching also includes: Business Writing, Cultural Industry Design and Strategy, Advanced English Reading and Wring and so on for undergraduates.
Beside academic work, Prof. Yang Wenhui also devotes herself in the filed of out-school and public work. She used to be a trainer and teacher for governmental departments and foreign chambers of commerce. She helped companies, institutions as a chief negotiator or consultant in international business negotiations, from which she obtained abundant data for her current research work on business communication. In 2008, she worked as the chief director of the Research Centre of Business Communication Studies across Cultures inSchoolofEnglishfor International Business, and in 2010, she was transferred to International College as the Vice Dean in GDUFS, being in charge of training program and academic research.
