The 3rdGDUFS Forum on Applied Linguistics
Call for Papers
The forum will be held onDecember 5-7, 2014by the National Key Research Centre for Linguistics & Applied Linguistics at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies,Guangzhou, P.R. China. The foruminvites proposals (maximum 500 words) for panels and presentations that address issues related to the umbrella themeSOCIETAL AND PUBLIC DISCOURSE.It welcomes original papers from perspectives of discourse analysis, textual linguistics, systemic functional linguistics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, etc.
Professors Christian M.I.M. Matthiessen, Istvan Kecskes, Derek Bousfield, Vijay Kumar Bhatia, andDániel Kárdárwill be invited for keynote speeches about discourse and utterances in context from the perspectives of functional linguistics, pragmatics and discourse analysis.
Individual presentationswill be allocated 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for questions and discussion.Proposals for panelsshould include a chair and a number of thematically-related papers, each of which should be 20 minutes in length, followed by 10 minutes for questions and discussion.
All submissions must be sent togw2014forum@126.com, witha title, an abstract, author’s name, affiliation(s), email address before August 30, 2014. They will be peer-reviewed in terms of originality and significance, and notification of acceptance will be sent by September 30, 2014. The organizing committee will plan the program as soon as it has selected the submissions. Aselection of papers presented at the forum will be published in the proceeding book.
